FRA’s 2026 Western Region Outstanding Logger Award Winner
REDMOND, OR — September 17, 2026 — The Forest Resources Association (FRA), in partnership with John Deere, honored Duane Grant of Lone Rock Resources as the recipient of the 2026 Western Region Outstanding Logger Award. FRA presented the award during its 2026 Western Region Fall Meeting at the Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, OR.
FRA’s Outstanding Logger Award recognizes exceptional independent logging contractors who demonstrate professional excellence in logging safety, environmental stewardship, business management, and community involvement. The award program elevates industry leaders, encourages peers to model best practices, and strengthens relationships among loggers, foresters, and landowners.
FRA’s Western Region Manager, Lindsay Warness, introduced the award and welcomed Carl Lockhart of John Deere to the podium. Lockhart shared why John Deere is proud to sponsor the Outstanding Logger Award and recognized Lone Rock Resources as a company that embodies the values this award was created to honor: their commitment to safety, professionalism, innovation, and stewardship of the future of our industry.
“Loggers are essential to proper forest management, and a strong, thriving wood supply chain depends on their hard work. That’s why John Deere is proud to partner with FRA to support the Outstanding Logger Program,” said Lockhart.

Amanda Sullivan-Astor of Associated Oregon Loggers, Inc. then shared remarks recognizing Duane’s distinguished career and the legacy he has helped build at Lone Rock Resources. Her presentation highlighted not only Duane’s contributions to the logging profession, but also the people and values that have made Lone Rock a respected industry leader.
Duane was then presented with an engraved cherry and black walnut cross-cut saw plaque and a generous award check. In keeping with his humble, team-oriented spirit, Duane graciously accepted the recognition not only on his own behalf but on behalf of the entire Lone Rock team, acknowledging the many people whose hard work and dedication have contributed to the company’s success.

During his acceptance remarks, Duane reflected on his 50-year career in the logging industry and, perhaps most importantly, the people he has had the privilege of mentoring along the way. He spoke with genuine pride about helping guide the next generation of loggers and sharing the knowledge, values, and lessons he has gained throughout his career.
