FRA Announces Retirement of Appalachian Region Consultant Jeff Jenkins
The Forest Resources Association (FRA) announces the retirement of Appalachian Region Consultant Jeff Jenkins, recognizing his five years of dedicated service to the Association and his longstanding commitment to the forest products industry.
As Appalachian Region Consultant, Jeff worked closely with logging contractors, forest products companies, and industry partners to support FRA’s mission while advancing safety, professionalism, and sustainable forestry across the region.
Throughout his five years with FRA, Jeff championed logger safety, supported independent logging contractors, and strengthened relationships throughout the Appalachian wood supply chain. His steady leadership, practical knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the industry have left a lasting impact on FRA and its members.
Reflecting on his time with the Association, Jeff shared:
“I have appreciated working with FRA for the past 5 years. The Appalachian Region is unique in many ways, especially the people. Good people, friendships and fond memories are what I’ve enjoyed the most!”

Following Jeff’s retirement, Clay Altizer, FRA Southwide Region Manager, will assume responsibility for the Appalachian Region. The transition is a natural fit, as Clay is originally from the region and has built strong relationships throughout the Appalachian forest sector during his career. He will continue serving the Southwide Region while expanding his responsibilities to include Appalachia.
“I would like to congratulate Jeff on his well-earned retirement and thank him for his commitment to serving the Appalachian Region throughout his career as both an active FRA member and our region consultant,” said Altizer.
“The timber industry has a rich history in Appalachia, and I look forward to becoming more active in the region and working alongside our members to help ensure it remains a strong economic driver for years to come.”
