FRA’s Southeastern Region serves FRA members throughout the South Atlantic including Georgia, South Carolina, the majority of Florida, Eastern North Carolina, and Eastern Virginia. It focuses on improving timber harvesting and transportation safety, efficiency, and environmental performance. Trucking safety and logging and trucking labor challenges are current issues of concern.

The South’s production of pulpwood increased from 60.6 million cords in 2015 to 64.5 million cords in 2016. Roundwood production increased by 1.8 million cords to 51.2 million cords and accounted for 79 percent of the South’s total pulpwood production.
On March 21, the Forest Resources Association’s Southeastern Region presented John “J.J.” Lemire with a special “Safety Recognition Award.” Lemire, the Director of Loss Control for Forestry Mutual Insurance Company in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Forest Resources Association and STIHL Incorporated honored Frank Myers and Stephen Wright, co-owners of M.M. Wright, Inc. in Gasburg, Virginia, as FRA’s National 2018 Outstanding Logger at its Annual Awards Dinner in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 17.
