Good afternoon. Over the last few weeks I have been in contact with regional leadership to evaluate the likelihood of having an in-person meeting in Jekyll Island, GA on October, 21st – 22nd. We considered several factors in our decision-making process including Covid-19 cases in the immediate area, hospital capacity, and company travel restrictions. Ultimately, to ensure the safety of Members and friends, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person meeting at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. We understand your disappointment but believe we made the best decision considering the circumstances. Unfortunately, I was not able to cancel hotel reservations at the Hampton Inn so if you have an existing reservation in our room block you will need to cancel that ASAP by contacting the hotel directly (912-635-3733).
On Thursday, October 21st, the Southeastern Region will sponsor a one-hour webinar on timber security from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, with a virtual Southeastern Region Steering Committee Meeting immediately following from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. Additionally, I am happy to announce that FRA is offering several other virtual events in the coming weeks to keep our members engaged until in-person meetings can resume. Opportunities range from one-hour webinars to half-day virtual meetings. More information on these events is expected in the next few days. We are hopeful that the Southeastern Region will be able to have an in-person Spring Meeting at Clemson University in April 2022!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any question or comments.
