Description

This publication is a revised and updated version of the old APA publication 95-A-14, The Loggers Guide to the OSHA Logging Safety Standards. The OSHA Logging Safety Standards have not changed since 95-A-14 was published in 1995, but a few subpoints in the standards have been interpreted slightly different by some OSHA officials since then. Also, some of the OSHA logging rules reference ANSI or SAE standards for manufacturers of logging machinery or personal protective equipment; a few of those standards have been updated since 1995. The requirement to comply with those newer manufacturing safety or testing standards rests on the manufacturing companies, not on the logging business/employer, when they produce new machines or other products.

FRA believes the information in this new publication is up-to-date as of 2021. However, this guide should not be considered as a replacement for expert legal advice where legal difficulties may arise from an OSHA compliance order or citation.
