Plans are underway to offer a new coaching service, which we are piloting for emerging leaders. FRA President Deb Hawkinson recently received her Certified Professional Coach certification from the College of Executive Coaching. What drove her decision to become certified was her own experience of being coached and her desire to help others succeed.
While Deb is certified to help individuals at any level – from entry-level through executives – the coaching program we are piloting is being first offered to our emerging leaders, beginning with those that participated in the September 2021 virtual advocacy day.
Coaching can help address challenges and attain professional goals, and it is an incredibly valuable experience. Benefits of working with a Certified Professional Coach include:
- Increased leadership skills and confidence;
- Improved work performance;
- Building practical communication skills and better relationships;
- Developing better organization and time-management tools; and
- Providing clarity on your current role and how to advance.
The pilot group will meet virtually once a month for four months, with the goal being to increase participants’ skillsets within their current roles and the industry, and develop more leaders within FRA’s membership.
Feedback from surveys to FRA emerging leaders has identified an interest in connecting with executives in our industry, and Deb will be coordinating with participants and FRA’s Executive Leadership on topics and guest speakers.
Each session will allow for the participants to reflect and share on any current topics or challenges they are facing. Participants would also be invited to participate in a one-on-one coaching session with Deb.
