Truck weight limits are a frequent topic of policy debates in the forest industry. All too often, the discussion is devoid of facts and analysis and full of emotional appeals. The industry asserts that moving loaded trucks onto the Interstate Highway System will be safer and more efficient.
During the pandemic, the demand for printing and writing paper dropped significantly. As a direct result, several paper mills in the Lake State Region shut down temporarily or permanently.
FRA members often identified trucking challenges—especially driver shortages, high insurance rates, and regulations—as key wood supply chain concerns during the last year. These concerns remain for 2021.
