Making Apprenticeships Work for You

Marie Price (Director of Training and Development, Idaho Forest Group); Brenda Myers (State Director/MS, DOL Apprenticeship Division); and Dale Lemmons (President, Signature Transport) talked about their experiences with the Registered Apprenticeship Program, the program’s benefits, and ways that companies can get involved at the state and federal levels.

Einari Vidgrén Foundation

The Einari Vidgrén Foundation gives out annual awards to increase the appreciation of work in mechanized timber harvesting. The purpose of the foundation is to heighten awareness of the entrepreneur spirit in the forest sector to increase interest as a potential workplace, especially among young people.
FRA's Western Region recently completed revisions to the Chip Quality Manual - Quality Chips Make a Difference. First published in 1998, back in American Pulpwood Association days, with a second edition in 2005, this 3rd edition is a comprehensive guide covering all aspects of chip production, including chip quality, debarking, chipping, screening and conveying, and troubleshooting.
