As part of the Global Financial Policies and Control team, the Fiber Security Specialist II is responsible for monitoring specific fiber receiving locations in US or Canada at one of our three large Fiber Supply regions and ensuring that adequate controls are in place at these locations. 

The Fiber Security Specialist II reports directly to the Fiber Security Supervisor and supports the internal control related monitoring and improvement activities of the Company, ensuring the efficient and effective financial policies, procedures and controls are in place for Fiber Supply $2B annual spend.  The Fiber Security Specialist II interacts regularly with Fiber Supply, Mills, as well as personnel within corporate functions. 

The following are critical responsibilities associated with the Fiber Security Specialist II position; all require the ability to effectively interact with personnel at various organizational levels of the business and staff functions, as well as internal/external third party service providers.

Participate in Peer Reviews – peer reviews are performed similar to Corp Audits.  Internal control matrixes and financial policies encompass the necessary controls to perform these reviews.  Present findings and recommendations to local management for corrective actions and remediation efforts.

Participate in Fiber Receipts Reviews – help assess controls and compliance with respect to Fiber Receipts Internal, Controls and Fiber Security policy 30050, assist senior Fiber Security Specialists with recommendations, findings and corroborative inquiries for the report to management.

Provide Surveillance Activities  – conduct surveillance activities at the request of Fiber Supply Managers associated with new Suppliers, Logging crews and Producers when called upon.  Inventory of pulpwood, chip piles, wet storage sites have to be monitored and in some cases ingress/egress roads to our facilities require cameras to be placed for observation of activity for unlawful entry.

Participate in Scale Boss & DVR Camera Installations – when new facilities are acquired by acquisitions the need for Scale Boss and DVR Camera installations are warranted by policy, camera positions and views are required and determined by the Fiber Security Specialists.

Participate in Risk Assessments – help conduct risk assessments at new facilities purchased through acquisition/merger, determine facility controls with respect to security, ingress & egress access, help assess if good internal controls and segregation of duties are present, help evaluate scaling system needs and video recording capabilities exist.

Participate in Potential Fraud Cases – actively participate in the investigations of potential fraud cases across the enterprise of Fiber Supply, prepare data analysis and present to senior Fiber Security Specialists.

Monitor and Identify Truck Axle Violations – trucks hanging axles off to gain a favorable weight which increase their payment happens across the enterprise on a regular basis, monitoring and identifying these exceptions is performed monthly and helps to recoup funds owed to IP, this task also helps to weed out those habitual offenders that constantly try to defraud us at the scales.

Monitor Scaler Activities – review reports with particular attention to the number of manual tickets is essential as this could be a sign of collusion with Fiber Supply producers & suppliers with bribes, favoritism, fraud, etc.

Knowledge and Experience:

This position requires knowledge of Fiber Supply processes, financial reporting systems (Scale Boss, BW, SAP and Tableau), working with Federal, State, County law enforcement offices as well as State Forestry Commissions.  Additionally, they work with staff groups (Audit, Legal, Ethics, Business Units) particularly when fraud, theft and misrepresentation of the origin of wood exists.
