Appalachian Region Event Canceled

Dear Appalachian Region Members,

After speaking with some steering committee members and FRA leadership, I regret to share with you that we are canceling the meeting portion of the Fall 2021 Appalachian Region Meeting. We have seen COVID cases on a steady rise and travel restrictions put in place by Appalachian Region member companies. These factors have resulted in fewer registrations for the meeting, along with higher risks associated with an in-door meeting. Having a poorly attended meeting with added health risks wasn’t a good decision and this is why we had to cancel. All registration and sponsorship donations will be refunded if you paid through our online portal. Jacob Minor will be following-up on this.

However, the outdoor field tour to the tethered logging operation is still available for anyone who is interested. That will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 13th. I am staying at the Country Inn and Suites on the evening of Oct. 12th and will be available for dinner with whoever wants go out. Let me know if you are interested. I will send out directions. It’s near Pineville, WV, about an hour from Beckley.

The Appalachian Region business meeting will be held VIRTUALLY at a later date this fall, probably in mid-November.  I’ll be contacting the steering committee to confirm the time and date for calling in.

Again, this was a difficult decision to make but the right one.

Thanks for the support and your interest in FRA and the Appalachian Region.  I appreciate it!
