For six years he led his consultancy, The Environmental Edge, LLC, in "bringing business and the environment together" to benefit both. He is a former Executive Director of the Sustainable Forestry Board, Inc. and Vice President - Forest Policy, Champion International Corporation. He has held positions with the American Forest Institute, American Forest Council; American Forest Foundation; Potlatch Corporation; and Mississippi Wildlife Federation. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Greenville Parks Foundation and SynTerra Corporation. Among Owen's many recognitions is the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian award.

Carlton will speak about the U.S. Endowment’s work and specifically projects that work to support supplier consumer relations and advance the operational efficiency of the supply chain.

Dustin Meierhofer – BC Forest Safety Council

Dustin joined the BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) as Director, Transportation and Northern Safety in December 2013. Dustin leads and supports the development of injury prevention programs for Transportation activities relating to forestry and provides oversight and support to other BCFSC safety programs and initiatives across BC, in partnership with industry. A Registered Professional Forester, Dustin has more than 25 years of experience in the resource sector. Before joining the BCFSC, he was CEO of General Biofuels BC group of companies, having held progressively more senior and diverse roles in resource management operations for Timberline Natural Resource Group and other employers. Throughout his career Dustin has had a core responsibility and appreciation for sound occupational health and safety practices and has authored or co-authored numerous publications and technical reports on various aspects of forestry.

Many in the U.S. forest products industry are concerned about log trucking safety, especially the more frequent log trucking insurance claims and the increasing difficulty of finding insurance companies willing to cover log trucking operations. BC’s forest industry had similar log trucking safety concerns. In response, Industry in partnership with the BCFSC formed the Trucking and Harvesting Advisory Group (TAG) which instituted operational best practices in concert with successful comprehensive outreach and education programs to improve trucking safety. Dustin will speak to this topic at FRA’s National Operations Committee Meeting on May 3.
