Rick Meyer joined the FRA staff in December 1993 and presently serves as Region Manager for FRA's Appalachian, Southeastern, and Southcentral Regions from his office in Roanoke, Virginia.
Rick's work responsibilities include writing publications, holding workshops and educational meetings, and visiting Region members in the field to learn about the issues that concern them, related to timber harvesting & transportation, forest management, government affairs, and the business of supplying mills with wood fiber from federal, state, and private forest lands. He also staffs FRA's Southwide Safety Committee.
Before joining the FRA staff, Rick worked about ten years with industrial forestry firms in Virginia and in several short-term state, federal, and private field forestry jobs in various locations. He holds a BS in Forest Management from Purdue University and an MS in Forest Economics from Virginia Tech.
