Lexington, KY – At its October 11 meeting, the Forest Resources Association’s Appalachian Region honored Kevin Tudor with its Second Place Technical Writing Award for 2018. This annual award recognizes the best Technical Releases published and posted on FRA’s website.
Kevin Tudor is a fiber procurement forester with Domtar in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He wrote Technical Release 18-R-11, Hardwood Pulpwood Weight Loss Study. This Technical Release summarizes the results of his company’s study to quantify the weight losses from chipping, screening, and storing of Appalachian hardwood pulpwood across the four seasons. This study compared weight loss of roundwood that was chipped green versus roundwood that was chipped after three months of storage at a woodyard in eastern Kentucky. (FRA members may find 18-R-11 in the members-only/login area of www.forestresources.org.)
